Secretary of State’s Spotify 2021 Playlist Includes Demon Slayer Movie Theme: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Interest

LiSA‘S “Homura” was one of 36 songs recommended by Antony Blinken

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has proven to be a fan of LiSA when he posted his list of favorite recent songs on Spotify last Friday. The “Secretary’s 2021 Playlist: On the Road” playlist represents 36 songs released either in 2021 or recently by artists around the world. Especially for anime fans, it includes LiSAthe single “Homura”, the theme song of the Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The movie: Mugen Train Animation Film.

The single “Homura” was released on October 14, 2020 and sold 68,000 copies on CD in its first week. LiSA is the first artist to rank # 1 for three consecutive weeks in 12 years and 10 months, since the group SMAP achieved the feat with their single “Dangan Fighter” in January 2008.

It took 81 days for the single to achieve the feat, the fastest in the history of Japan Recording Industry Association. The single’s disc release was also certified Platinum for having sold over 250,000 copies of CDs.

The song is the third single to rank No.1 on Oricon’s weekly digital singles chart for at least six consecutive weeks, after Kenshi YonezuThe 2018 single “Lemon” and the 2019 single “Uma to Shika” accomplished the feat. LiSA is also the first female artist to accomplish this feat. The single has ranked # 1 on Oricon’s weekly digital singles chart for 13 straight weeks.

Blinken’s Spotify playlist also includes songs from Korean singer-songwriter Minzy, Filipino boy band SB19, and Filipino folk-pop group Ben & Ben, among other Asian artists. The playlist description reads: “Music has been a constant in my life, and as we close the year, I wanted to take a moment to share some of my favorite songs released this year (or recently) by artists from all over the world. No matter where we live, music can inspire us. I hope you enjoy these tunes as much as I do. ”
