Snail Mail covers Superdrag’s “Feeling Like I Do” for Spotify Singles

Snail Mail, the project of singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan, brings attention to often-overlooked alternative rock band Superdrag with a cover of the band’s 2002 track “Feeling Like I Do” for Spotify Singles. The cover also comes with a reworked version of “Headlock”, which appeared on Snail Mail’s critically acclaimed 2021 album, valentine.

True to the post-grunge vibes of the original track with its multi-layered distorted guitar riffs, Jordan’s version of “Feeling Like I Do” offers a more tender and serious take on the unconventional love song. “It was really cool to cover Superdrag’s ‘Feeling Like I Do’ because I love it, and I’ve loved it for a while,” Jordan said in a statement. “I was able to make it my own by singing to it.”

Jordan’s updated version of “Headlock” — which was originally a dreamy indie pop number — gives fans a glimpse of how the 23-year-old musician performs the song a few years after it was originally recorded. “The ideal listening environment for my Spotify Singles is in a dark, damp cave,” she said. “I think the Spotify version of ‘Headlock’ is different from the original, in that the original was recorded almost two years ago, and the more I perform the song, the more ideas I think of. which I wish I had put in the original.. This version gave me the opportunity to implement some of those ideas.

Snail Mail is currently touring Europe. After a performance at Japan’s famed Fuji Rock Festival in late July, Jordan and his band will return to the United States for a US and Canadian tour that kicks off August 12 in Providence, Rhode Island, before ending November 19 in Boston.
